A new study published in the BMJ found that patient satisfaction and compliance is dependent on how the doctor is dressed. Patients overwhelmingly preferred doctors dressed professionally in dress shirts, slacks or skirts with the traditional white coat. Survey respondents felt doctors dressed professionally were more trustworthy and competent. However, the survey also found that those seeking emergency treatment were less concerned about a doctor's attire.
