Turbo-Doc (www.turbo-doc.com) is an electronic medical record system designed to assist physicians and other health care providers in documenting patient encounters. This software was developed by a physician to provide tools that save time as well as improve documenting patient care. Turbo-Doc is user friendly and is customizable.


In Use
Turbo-Doc is user friendly with screens that are intuitive, and the flow is straight forward. On average, within a couple of weeks, users are fully comfortable with the system, and it can also be customized to fit a specific physician's specialty and needs. The software comes with a variety of words and phrases related to the specialty. The physician also has the option of adding their own words and phrases.

Turbo-Doc

Turbo-Doc can be used by multiple users and all users can have simultaneous access to the chart. It is designed to quickly and automatically scan your electronic documents for compliance with Medicare and HCFA E/M guidelines. The system comes standard with a variety of templates for print outs including; procedure notes, letters to referring doctors and hospital discharge summaries.

Technology employed
The minimum hardware requirements are at least 256MB RAM, and 100MB of hard disk space. Turbo-Doc is Windows based, and is compatible with Windows 95, 98, NT, Windows 2000, XP and Vista. This program is written in Microsoft Visual Basic and Microsoft Access is the format used to store the data.

There are also an MS SQL Server versions available. You can use this software on a network and it can also be used with Wireless LANs. It is compatible with Novell, Windows Peer to Peer, Windows NT, Windows Server 2000 and 2003.

Turbo-Doc is easy to learn, configure and deploy. It can be installed on pen based laptops, touch screens and PDA’s. The wireless connection allows you to go from room to room as needed and still be connected with your server and printers. A pen based pointing device is not required but it is preferred for rapid data entry. Turbo-Doc is also compatible with voice recognition software such as IBM Via Voice and Dragon Naturally Speaking.

My Opinion
Turbo-Doc is a complete system that allows a physician the ability to document patient information on the go. The interface is clean, simple and easy to learn, though some may find it a bit dated. It can be used by all staff at the same time. The software is customizable and can be used by all types of physicians and healthcare providers no matter the specialty. Turbo-Doc is a well designed application with innovative tools to make patient documentation easy for any type of medical practice.
