Information Week is reporting a success for the Verizon Connected Health Solutions pilot program in Virginia. Recently, two area practices become the first in the nation to exchange data on the health information exchange (HIE). The exchange, a collaboration between Verizon and Medfx, uses both Direct Project protocols and the Nationwide Health Information Network exchange standards and is viewed as a way to help smaller practices move into electronic health records.
