Health data security breaches have increased by 32%, reports Government Health IT. The rise is due mostly to employees handling the data incorrectly. With that in mind, there are several steps a healthcare organization can take to minimize the risk of a data breach. The steps include auditing personally identifiable information, creating an incident response plan and reviewing contracts with business associates to make sure they are handling sensitive information correctly.
