GE Healthcare Centricity Practice Solutions 10.0 (http://centricitypractice.gehealthcare.com ) is the newest version of its integrated electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management system. The interface has been completely redesigned and includes many innovative features. It has a Meaningful Use Package that is bundled with secure clinical messaging, ePrescribing and patient portal features. This is a single integrated system that can handle all aspects of patient documentation and practice management tasks.

In Use
There are many new features in CPS 10.0 including a new financial performance dashboard. It also has embedded reports that allow the user to track their progress when trying to achieve federal benchmarks for Meaningful Use incentive payments. This innovative, integrated system allows patient information to flow smoothly throughout your medical practice -- which in turn, means less operating costs and reduces medical errors.

Technology Employed
It is recommended that the CPS 10.0 be used with a dedicated database server. An Intel Xeon Processor E5520 or higher is suggested with at least 8GB of RAM and 600 GB of hard drive space for 1- 25 users. Workstations should have an Intel Core Duo Processor or better with at least 4GB of RAM. For larger medical practices, a specialist at GE will advise what hardware is required.

Ease of Use, Configuration and Deployment
The consultants at GE are happy to assist with configuring and deploying the system. They will review everything and help user set up their system. Once installed, the system is user-friendly and easy to learn. There are many resources available online to assist in the process.

Recap
CPS 10.0 helps maximize productivity by simplifying everyday tasks such as scheduling, filing of claims and billing. The latest version of Centricity Practice Solution provides a system that can be used by everyone in a practice, including clinicians, front office and billing staff. This is a complete system that offers a new interface, streamlined navigation and updated innovative features.

Pricing varies depending on the size of the medical practice and if added hardware is needed. The GE consultants are happy to review what is needed for each specific practice.

Advantages

Excellent interface design
Customizable, innovative technology

Disadvantages
The cost of additional add-ons and hardware may boost the price of the system.

My Take
Centricity Practice Solution 10 is designed by physicians for physicians. The new interface is user-friendly and simplifies scheduling, billing and claim filing. This is a comprehensive system that combines an EMR and Practice Management System into a single solution. I am impressed with all the built-in, time saving features and how easy it is to navigate through the system. I would recommend this software to any type or size of medical practice.

We have had this system for several years. With the onset of the 06 version they smashed together the emr and PM products (PM was outstanding)and this is when we got on EMR. The concept is good, but connectivity is unreilable, form building requires programing skills and after 3 years of trying to deal with the EMR we are changing to Allscripts, we have heard good things. BTW if you are a small practice GE is not interested in helping you resolve issues, main reason we are changing.
