In an effort to reduce the anxiety and costs associated with the implementation of health IT, the American Medical Association has launched Amagine.

The website will provide doctors with a one-stop shop for all forms of health IT, including electronic health records, e-prescribing, revenue cycle management, lab ordering and clinical patient support solutions. The goal is to give physicians a way to implement an electronic health record, e-prescribing system or other health IT item quickly.  

Amagine offers a single, secure tool to help physician find the right solution for their practice. The platform is described as ‘modular’ because it provides physicians with the flexibility to add or replace applications. It works with a practice’s existing health IT infrastructure.

Doctors can use Amagine to implement an entirely new system or just use it to supplement their existing one. The platform is designed to give doctors a way to take baby steps towards being electronic because not all physicians want to go electronic overnight.

Amagine takes the guess work out of choosing a vendor by carefully reviewing vendors for financial stability, technical merit and customer service. With Amagine, doctors know they are getting a stable vendor.

It also gives doctors a single point of access that they can manage all their health IT applications through one interface. The service is subscription-based. It is also software-based. Therefore there is no chance the software will be obsolete or require a huge investment in upgrades.

Currently, the site offers a variety of EMR/EHR, e-prescribing, patient registries, revenue cycle management, and clinical support tools. Soon the site will offer a meaningful use solution. Amagine also offers a practice assessment that helps physicians determine their health IT needs.
