Six Trial Implementations of the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) demonstrated use cases at the 5th NHIN Forum last week include solutions from Initiate Systems, Inc. In September 2007, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded contracts to nine health information exchanges to participate in the Trial Implementation of NHIN, developing and demonstrating core services for secure exchange of a summary medical record, as well as six use cases. The 5th NHIN Forum held in Washington, D.C, was the event where participating organizations showcased experiences, successes, and lessons learned in the trials. Six of those nine original health information exchanges involved in NHIN Trials have chosen to use Initiate PatientT, a leading Enterprise Master Person Index (EMPI) solution.
