GE Healthcare, a leading vendor of healthcare information technology, has announced an initiative to simplify physician participation in Medicare's Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI). GE Healthcare's Medical Quality Improvement Consortium (MQIC) quality data system was selected by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) as a reporting registry for the 2008 program. The initiative will streamline quality reporting for Centricity® EMR and Centricity Practice Solution customers that submit for eligible financial incentives through the MQIC registry.

BlueCross BlueShield Venture Partners is a newly formed $116-million fund to which 11 independent Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield companies have committed capital. The fund invests in technologies, products, and services in the U.S. healthcare industry that promote efficiency, lower costs, and improve options for consumers.
