Are Longer Shifts on the Horizon for First Year Docs?

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education is set to issue new shift guidelines for first year medical students. So reports The Washington Post.

Currently, first year medical residents, in a hospital environment, cannot work longer than 16 hours. If the new guideline is put in place, first year doctors would be able to work 24 hours straight.
