Telemedicine May Have Place in Post-Surgery ICU

Having family member participate in the surgical rounds can help ensure the patient gets appropriate after care, but it is often impossible for family members to attend the rounds. So reports Fierce Healthcare.

A study by Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania found that many family members could not attend due to work, travel distance or prior obligations. Telemedicine may be a way to boost family participation and it may also help improve communication between doctors and families.
