Virtual Doctor on the Way for Diabetic Patients

Diabetic patients might soon be able to get help from a virtual doctor. So reports The Wall Street Journal.

IBM Watson Health and Novo Nordisk have teamed up to create a virtual doctor specifically for diabetic patients. The goal is to use use data from continuous blood sugar monitoring so the virtual doctor will be able to dispense advice on insulin injections to patients.

Although the article did not state which form of the disease this initiative is aimed at helping, all individuals with Type 1 diabetes, also known as Juvenile Diabetes, require insulin injections in order to survive. Some individuals with Type 2 diabetes, often referred to as adult onset diabetes, take a combination of pills and insulin shots.
