Lawmakers Seek Expansion of 'Physician Payment Sunshine Act'

Lawmakers attempted to close a loophole in the Physician Payment Sunshine Act, which requires pharmaceutical and device makers to publicly report payments to doctors. So reports NPR.

Currently, the law doesn't require these entities to report payments made to nurse practitioners or physician assistants. The lawmakers want to expand the disclosure requirement starting in 2017 to include physician assistants, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, certified registered nurse anesthetists and certified nurse midwives.
