Cell Phone Images Are Good Enough for Telehealth Consultations: Survey

A new study set out to determine if camera phone images are high enough quality to be used in telehealth consultations. So reports Fierce Mobile Healthcare.

The study, conducted by researchers in Sweden and South Africa, used non-clinical photos taken by a professional photographer on a variety of popular smartphones and asked non-clinicians to rate the photos.

The photos were rated on focus, resolution, contrast, color and composition. The survey results found that camera phone images were of similar quality to those taken by a Canon Mark II digital camera, which is considered to be one of the best digital cameras on the market.
