mHealth Apps Need Oversight: Study

A new study by the Journal of the American Medical Association questions whether there are too many mHealth apps available. So reports Fierce Mobile Healthcare.

mHealth apps accounted for approximately 660 million downloads in 2013, but many of the apps aren’t vetted, provide little to no actual health benefit and many routinely provide bad information. For example, a recent study tested the accuracy of four apps designed to tell if a skin lesion was benign or malignant and found that the apps misidentified 30% of the lesions as benign.
