Sustainable Growth Rate for Medicare Payments Set to Expire

Lawmakers are set to vote on permanently repealing the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) for physicians. So reports the National Law Review.

The SGR is the formula that dictates the Medicare payment rates for physicians. If the SGR is repealed, a new formula that values quality outcomes will be put into place to place. This could mean a reduction of as much 21% for physician payments.
