Scribes May Cause a Decline in Medical Record Technology

Scribes, a trained medical information manager that works alongside the doctor to enter the patient information into the electronic health record, are growing in popularity among physicians. So reports Fierce EMR.

This increase has some in the medical community concerned about patient risk. A new viewpoint published in the Journal of the American Medical Association concludes that using scribes as a work-around for a suboptimal electronic health record will only lead to a further decline in electronic health record technology.
