Patients Don't Trust EHRs

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT surveyed more than 2,000 consumers and found a significant majority do not believe that electronic health records are private and secure. So reports Government Health IT.

Of those surveyed, 75% were worried about the security of their personal information. In addition, 10% reported withholding information from providers due to privacy concerns. This compares to 6% who reported withholding information from doctors using paper charts.
