Not Everyone Has an EHR

The goal of every American having an electronic health record by 2014 remains elusive. So reports Next Gov.

According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, their incentive program has paid out $23.7 billion to hospitals and medical professionals for the adoption of electronic health records. While this covers 385,158 clinicians and 4,993 hospitals, there is no way to determine how many patients treated by, or at, these locations actually have an electronic health record.
