AMA Calls for EHR Changes

The American Medical Association (AMA) has issued eight priorities for improving EHR usability.

This comes after the results of a recent Rand Corp study showed that doctors have no desire to return to paper record keeping, but feel that electronic health records require too much data entry and take the focus away from the patient.

The AMA's suggestions for design improvements include supporting team-based care, promoting coordination of care and offering more modularity and configurability in the electronic health records.
