Medical Group Leaves Patient Info in Driveway, Settles HIPAA Complaint

The Parkview Medical System in Fort Wayne Indiana now knows the true cost of a HIPAA violation. So reports Healthcare IT News.

The medical group recently paid a $800,000 fine to settle a complaint filed in 2009. The complaint accused the Parkview Medical System of leaving 71 boxes of patient information unattended in a physician's driveway.
