HHS Fines Dermatologist $150k for Data Breach

Adult & Pediatric Dermatology, which has offices in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, has been fined $150,000 by the Department of Health and Human Services for failure to comply with the HITECH Breach Notification Rule. So reports Healthcare IT News.

The fine results from an investigation into the clinic’s handling of the theft of an unencrypted thumb drive containing information for 22,000 of the clinic’s patients.
