Fax Snafu Leads to HIPAA Violation

The WestCoast Children’s Clinic notified patients of a HIPAA breach at the clinic, reports Healthcare IT News.

The breach occurred when the clinic faxed patient information to an incorrect fax number. Personal health information included in the transmission included name, date of birth, treatment history, family history, test results and prescribed treatment.
