Recently, two area practices become the first in the nation to exchange data on the health information exchange (HIE). The exchange, a collaboration between Verizon and Medfx, uses both Direct Project protocols and the Nationwide Health Information Network exchange standards and is viewed as a way to help smaller practices move into electronic health records.
