Wybtrak’s Medicom Software

Wybtrak’s Medicom Software (www.wybtrak.com) is an application that helps speed up the process of sending and sharing vital medical information. This software allows the user to create a database of information on patients that is accessed using innovative communication and computer technology.

The data is available for retrieval at any time. The fields of a new form will automatically be filled with demographic and any Prior Authorization or Referral Request data. Medicom can also transfer any information, such as diagnostic tests and office note, that is stored electronically as a file attachments.

In Use
This software takes the hassle out of obtaining prior authorization for procedures and referrals. Medicom allows a user to manage the prior authorization and referral process from the convenience or a computer. The user enters the authorization number on screen. The form can then be forwarded to another facility or physician. This eliminates the need for any phone calls that would otherwise have to be done between providers and managed care agencies. Medicom can be used by multiple users within a physician’s office.

Technology employed
The software is installed on a single workstation. The recommended processor is a Pentium II or higher. Each work station needs at least 64MB of RAM and up to 1 GB of disk space. This software is compatible with Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. You will also need a data/fax modem, a CD drive for initial installation and a scanner.

Ease of use, configuration, and deployment
Medicom is installed on individual work stations and can also be installed on a network with a server. The database can be installed on a server so it will backed up regularly with the rest of the server. The software is easy to install, configure and deploy. It is user friendly and has a simple and straightforward design. If you encounter any problems you can gather all the pertinent information and call Medicom’s support center and they will assist you.

Recap
The software makes it simple to manage the prior authorization and referral processes from a computer. The latest ICD-9 and CPT codes are built into the software which allows for easy selection from a drop down list. A user can print out reports that track all of the requests, including new, sent, approved or open. Medicom gives a medical practice an easier way to track and mange requests.

There are a number of configurations that will affect the cost of Medicom. There are standalone, network and client server versions. The client server and network version can have multiple workstations that can run the software. There are also the number of licenses and forms that need to be entered into the system to be added into the final cost. There are so many variables that the price varies depending on the needs and size on your medical practice.
