App: Get CME Credit While Reading Med Journals

Looking for an app that lets you browse all your medical journals and earn CME credit? The Docwise app, which is available from the iTunes store, offers easy access to all your professional reading and lets you earn CME credit.

Setting up Docwise is simple. Once in the app you enter your name and specialty and then you select your institution from their list. Based on this information, the app will compile a selection of journals and news items of use to physicians in your specialty for you to read. Additional journals can be added to your reading list at any time. You can also add an RSS feed.

Navigation is simple and streamlined. To read an article, simply swipe the headline. If you want more information about an article abstract just tap on the screen. The app lets you read 5-6 abstracts at a time with the multiple abstract view.

The articles can be saved to Dropbox, Evernote or iBooks or printed. You can also share the articles via email, Twitter or Facebook.

CME credits are earned in the app by performing searches, selecting an article and answering questions about your search. By submitting your answers to the questions you earn a CME1 certificate. CME2 credits are earned by using the app. The app tracks how much time you spend in the app and how many articles you read, which you can then use for CME2 credits.

The app is compatible with the iPhone and iPad and requires iOS 5.0 or later. It is available from the iTunes Store.
