New Versions of McKesson Solutions for Independent Practices

To help physician practices improve workflow, cash flow and patient care, McKesson has released the latest and fastest versions of its trusted Lytec ® electronic health record (EHR) and practice management solutions, used by thousands of doctors nationwide. The updated Lytec ® MD is a seamlessly combined CCHIT-certified EHR and practice management system that features Bright Note Technology ™ , a proprietary chart automation function. It also features Lytec ® Connect, designed to enable the secure electronic delivery of patient data across care settings.

Bright Note Technology takes a physician’s exam notes and automatically completes the patient’s electronic chart, enabling quick data access for clinical care reports, optimized reimbursements and performance tracking. Powered by RelayHealth, Lytec Connect is a direct communications link between caregivers that reduces the costs, redundancies and errors associated with paper-based practices.

Lytec 2010 practice management can be purchased alone or as an integrated part of Lytec MD. The new software release contains a powerful Windows-based workflow engine that enables physician practices like the Central Missouri Pain Clinic, which treats about 50 patients per day, to quickly and easily navigate and facilitate patient scheduling, billing and reporting.

“The speed and accuracy of Lytec has greatly streamlined every phase of our practice,” explained Lucy Hussey, billing manager for the Rolla, Missouri-based clinic which is among the first nationally to test the new practice management release.

“Now we can electronically scrub claims and payments before we post them, which has optimized revenues by reducing reimbursement times and returned claims,” said Hussey. She credits the new Lytec 2010 revenue management feature with freeing up staff to track aging claims, handle referrals and focus more quality time on patient care. “Lytec has made revenue, procedural and regulatory reporting a breeze, and it has provided a new level of security in our front- and back-office operations.”

The Central Missouri Pain Clinic and other Lytec users point to McKesson’s network of value-added resellers and consultants like St. Louis-based Kaberline Healthcare Informatics as a key source of local training and ongoing system support.

“The speed and user-friendly nature of the latest Lytec version should enable most practices to save thousands of dollars annually through process efficiencies,” said Mike Kaberline, noting that the practices beta testing the new offering have reported improved financial performance and patient care. As a growing number of physician practices consider applying for government EHR mandates and stimulus, Kaberline noted that Lytec can promote a higher level of productivity, self-sufficiency, and patient care and safety.

“Many physician practices are struggling to keep up with all the paperwork and bureaucracy required for reimbursement and regulation compliance,” said David Henriksen, senior vice president and general manager of McKesson’s Physician Practice Solutions. “We believe the innovation in our Lytec practice management and EHR offerings will enable doctors and their support teams to cut through the red tape with speed and confidence so they can focus on the health of their business and their patients.”
