Sage North America Appoints Betty Otter-Nickerson President of Sage Healthcare Division
Sage North America has announced the appointment of Betty Otter-Nickerson as president of the company’s healthcare division, effective February 8, 2010, reporting to CEO Sue Swenson. Sage is a leading global provider of business management applications and services for small and mid-size businesses (SMBs) with more than 6.1 million customers around the world. The company serves more than 80,000 physicians in the United States with practice management, electronic health records, and other services to streamline patient care.
“Betty brings to Sage a unique combination of technical background in software, organizational and leadership development, entrepreneurial spirit, and experience building a movement in the healthcare arena that make her an ideal leader for Sage’s healthcare business,” said Sage North America CEO Sue Swenson. “Betty’s leadership will help Sage to continue our focus on offering the best solutions and experience for healthcare providers to deliver improved patient care.”
Sage provides SMBs with business management software and services that help increase efficiency and reduce operational costs for accounting, operations, customer relationship management, human resources, time tracking, merchant services and the specialized needs of the construction, distribution, healthcare, manufacturing, nonprofit and real estate industries. The company’s Healthcare Division specializes in integrated electronic health records, EDI applications and practice management systems for thousands of ambulatory care practices throughout the United States that enable physicians and practice managers to better manage their practices, improve profitability, and streamline patient care.
Based in Tampa, Florida, in her role as President Ms. Otter-Nickerson will be responsible for the strategic vision and operations of the Sage North America Healthcare Division, building on the company’s more than 25 years of innovation in the healthcare field. Beginning in social work, Ms. Otter-Nickerson’s career has extended to the corporate and nonprofit arenas. She spent 10 years at BMC Software where she advanced from R&D Product Line Manager to Vice President of Operations for Product Management and Development focused on worldwide operations for BMC’s enterprise management solutions. She pursued entrepreneurial and risk-based ventures as the President and CEO of both Vincera Software and Gallery Watch. She most recently was COO of the LIVESTRONG Foundation where she provided executive leadership for the development and growth of the LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center of Excellence Network, gaining international recognition for the Network as an innovative, reputable and sustainable model of cancer survivorship care in large academic medical centers as well community practice settings.
